May 31, 2010 - New Music For Memorial Day

Last week there was no show because John had a 103 degree fever. Because of the cancellation last week and the upcoming month-long "hiatus", he decided to do a show on Memorial Day. Since it was Memorial Day, most people were busy with BBQ's and other assorted things, including myself. John was in the studio, but I did the show from my sister's back yard while everyone there did there best to provide background noise while I was on.

Jon Dawson, the leader of the band Third Of Never was the guest. Third Of Never is a great band, and fortunately for me, I was able to listen to the interview beforehand, since I wasn't home to listen to the show live. It was a good interview and I'm looking forward to their new album.

Besides Jon Dawson, the only confirmed listener we had was Sammy, our friend from Mexico. We may not have had many US listeners, but at least someone was listening internationally. If you were listening, this is what you would have heard on Donohue's Music Den:

The Grip Weeds - Truth Is Hard To Take from Strange Change Machine
Peter & The Penguins - Here I Go Again from How To Choose A Sweetheart
John Hiatt - What Kind Of Man from The Open Road
Sam Quinn - Late The Other Night from The Fake That Sunk A Thousand Ships
Moby Grape - Ain't No Use from Moby Grape Live
The White Stripes - Little Ghost from Under The Great Northern Lights
The Plimsouls - Everyday Things from Live! Beg, Borrow & Steal
Peter Case - Black Crow Blues from Wig!
Robyn Hitchcock & The Venus 3 - The Afterlight from Propellor Time
The Baseball Project - 30 Doc from Broadside Ballads
Black Francis - When I Go Down On You from Nonstoperotik

Hopefully we'll have more listeners next week. There are only two shows left before John's "vacation". Next week I'll continue with the "new releases" and see where that takes me.
